Tips on caring for your fine jewelry

CARING FOR YOUR JEWELRY
1. Moonstone and opal are softer stones and should only be cleaned with lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth. Triple rinse and dry with a soft polishing cloth. Do not put these stones in an ultrasonic cleaner or use chemical cleaners and solvents.
Both moonstone and opal can fracture when exposed to high heat, intense light or extreme, fast temperature drops. This is called "crazing" So, do not jump on the tik tok band wagon and attempt to boil your jewelry clean.
(The same goes for turquoise)
2. Moissanite and other gems are much harder and stable...however, I still recommend cleaning with good old fashioned lukewarm, soapy water. Same triple rinse and dry.
If you are not wearing your pieces daily, store them in a cool dark place.
A. Never wear your jewelry in a chlorinated swimming pool.
B. You definitely should not be sleeping with your jewelry on. If you toss and turn like a rotisserie chicken in your sleep like I do, eventually you are bound to knock a stone loose.
C. Your jewelry doesn't need to shower daily with you. Though it won't hurt it on occasion.
D. You should always put your jewelry on after you twirl, curl, hairspray and spritz.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
(Avoid wearing during exercise, as sweat will react with the jewelry to produce silver chloride and copper sulfide.)
Simply put it is a legal disclaimer that I am required to state. As goes with all fine metals. When we sweat we release amino acids and sulfur through our pores mixed with all the shampoos, soaps, body lotions, oils, perfumes and sanitizers we all use. When these acids and sulfurs combine with oxygen over time they cause oxidation in precious metals otherwise known as tarnish. Proper care will stop discoloration in it's tracks. Note: when cleaning, you can use a soft bristled toothbrush on your metal.
I want your jewelry to last a lifetime...these tips will help ensure that all your pieces do. And of course in the event of an accident you know I will go the extra mile to get your pieces repaired or replaced free. 😍😍😍
